Milligan’s WUMC 90.5 FM was awarded third place in Best Station Imaging and Best Podcast by College Broadcasters Inc. The third-place Station Imaging award recognizes WUMC’s top-of-the-hour content and inter-music programming.

“It was really awesome to see we got an award; it was not something we were expecting,” says Station Manager Sami Maldonado, a political science and business administration major from Quito, Ecuador.

The achievement reflects the collaborative efforts of several team members, including former Station Manager Caleb Lehman, former DJ Clayton Holland, and Anthony Bailey, host of “Cryptid Horizon,” along with Maldonado. Additionally, Maldonado’s own podcast “Sami’s Spotlight,” won 4th for Best Podcast. In the episode that was submitted to the award show, she interviews international students about their experiences studying in America for World College Radio Day -S1E4-”Sami’s Spotlight”- World College Radio Day

The wins were especially impressive given the field of schools participating in the event, including large state schools like Michigan State University and Mississippi State University.

Looking ahead, Maldonado expressed confidence in the station’s future and more people participating, noting, “This year the team is strong.”
