Milligan’s Musical Theatre program will present “A Grand Night for Singing” beginning February 24 in the McGlothlin-Street Theatre located in the Gregory Center.
The musical production features music from Rodgers and Hammerstein, a highly celebrated writing partnership within musical theatre. They are responsible for producing other Broadway classics such as “Cinderella”, ‘“The King and I”, and “The Sound of Music.” “A Grand Night for Singing” originally opened on Broadway in 1933 and has been nominated for two Tony Awards, Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical, and the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Revue.
The musical production will be directed by Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre, Jamie Buxton. Dr. Kellie Brown will be the musical’s conductor, and scenic and lighting design will be done by Brian Saxton, Assistant Professor of Theatre and Director of Technical Theatre.
Among the cast of characters is senior Max Garbe, who also starred in the 2019 Milligan Musical Theatre production “Hunchback of Notre Dame.” He shares his thoughts on the production,
“The show is a lot of fun,” he said. “The cast is very excited to entertain with the moving melodies, beautiful harmonies, and energetic choreography of this production.”
