Milligan students gathered for the annual Webb County Fair Wednesday evening.

Activities during the event included the traditional car smash, cornhole, outdoor bowling and nine square. New to this year’s list was “Pumpkin Chunkin,” the goal of which was to see who could throw a pumpkin the farthest.

“My favorite event was the car smashing, because I can let my anger and stress out in a way that doesn’t hurt anyone else,” said junior Joseph Reese.

There were also two fire pits for students to gather around and socialize while staying warm in the cool evening.

Attendees could also enter into three free raffles. Prizes for the raffles included gift cards, a speaker and a dragon fish along with the necessary supplies to take care of it.

With the Webb County Fair being cancelled last year due to COVID-19, the majority of resident assistants (RAs) responsible for organizing the event this year are sophomores who had never experienced such an event.

Dylan Powell, junior and RA in Webb Hall, was the only one to have experienced the Webb County Fair before.

“I was a freshman the last time we had this event, so it was a lot more than I expected, since then I only participated,” Powell said. “Now that I was part of the planning process this year, there is a lot that goes into it to make sure that all the pieces go together, but overall, I think it was a great success.”

Another RA from Webb, sophomore Topher Emerine, shared what he enjoyed most about the event.

“Besides Wonderful Wednesday, I think it’s one of the biggest events we have on campus,” said Emerine. “So having the turnout we did, I’m very happy with that and to see the smiles from the student’s faces as well as the way that there were a ton of social groups interacting, I think that’s really awesome.”
