Milligan University’s men’s soccer, now ranked No. 25 nationally, beat St. Andrews University 4-2 after a close scare on March 29.

The Buffs led the Knights 2-0 into the second half with goals from freshman Charlie Betts and sophomore Luke Bennett, but the Knights rallied back to tie up the game. St. Andrews scored their two goals back to back in the 76th and 77th minute.

Freshman Marius Grytdal commented on the late goals by the knights:

“We know that we (could) and should (have) finish(ed) the game earlier than we did. We need to step up our level when we are playing against the best teams, but overall we are pleased to win a tournament game.”

Despite the Knight’s late surge, Milligan was quick to counter. Betts scored the third goal in the 82nd minute, and freshman Victor Castel secured the fourth goal with a shot from roughly 30 yards out in the 89th minute.

Up next, the Buffs will play in the conference championship match tonight at 7 p.m.
