The Buffs stumbled through the first week of March as they dropped a game to Cumberland University on Tuesday and two to Bluefield College over the weekend.

The baseball team first traveled to Lebanon, TN to play a double-header against the Cumberland Phoenix on the 2nd

In Game 1, Braden Spano hit a home run before Cumberland scored six straight to take the first game 6-2.

Milligan got on the board in the first inning in Game 2, thanks to a Chancery Hall RBI on a two-out single. Justin Greene and Richard Polinsky then homered in the third and fourth innings to hold off a late Cumberland rally to split the double-header 5-4.

The Buffs then traveled to Bluefield to play a three-game set.

On Friday night, Milligan captured the early lead as a result of multiple hits from Anthony Guzman and Chancery Hall. However, that lead was not built to last as Bluefield scored 10 runs in the remainder of the first game to take it 10-2.

In Saturday’s second game, Kirby Smith hit a three-run home run in the ninth inning to lift the Buffs to the win 10-8. It came after an Anthony-Guzman RBI single, which sparked a five-run streak to tie the game 7-7 after being at a 7-2 deficit.

In the final game of the weekend, Milligan got out to an early lead again with Hall, Greene, and Smith hitting a single apiece to put the Buffs up 2-0. The Buffs lost it in the bottom of the sixth by producing three errors, which produced five runs for the Rams. The triple-header closed with a 10-2 defeat to Bluefield.

Milligan is now 11-7 for the season and 3-3 in the conference. They travel again to Lebanon for a Cumberland double-header on Tuesday and host AAC foe Kentucky Christian next weekend.
