Milligan’s Men’s Soccer beat West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), ranked no. 14 nationally, 3-2 on Thursday night.

The scoreboard shows the final score at the end of the match.

Inaki Moreno led the Buffs with two goals, the first of which he claimed in the 13th minute. Jett Carter also scored, his coming in the 27th minute, to give the team a 2-0 lead at the half.

WVU Tech fought hard to make a comeback in the second half, scoring in the 67th minute to cut Milligan’s lead to 2-1, but Moreno’s second goal, coming in the 79th minute from an assist by Raphael Sefriou, put the Buffs up 3-1. The Golden Bears scored their second goal in the 82nd minute, but Milligan was able to hold them off until the end of the match.

Up next, the Buffs play two important conference games to end their regular season. They host Columbia International University on Wednesday and travel to face Tennessee Wesleyan University on March 18. If the men win both games, they will be Appalachian Athletic Conference champions for the first time since 2012.
