1. Go to church

That’s right–some churches in the area are welcoming those in the community to join them for a Thanksgiving meal. Beginning at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 24, Hopwood Memorial Church will host a free potluck-style Thanksgiving dinner right on campus.  The church has often welcomed Milligan students to this event in past years.

 2. Go to a professor’s house

Milligan is known for its tight-knit community. Chances are, one or two of your professors will invite you and your friends over for some homestyle cooking.

3. Crash your friend’s party

There are tons of local students who would be happy to include you in their Thanksgiving celebration, so be sure to ask around!

4. Visit your favorite restaurant

With at least 24-hour notice, Cracker Barrel will offer both pre-cooked and take-and-bake Thanksgiving meals between Tuesday, Nov. 22 and Thursday, Nov. 24. The $100 meal serves up to 10 people, and includes a roasted turkey breast, a variety of sides, and dessert. But if that’s not in your college budget, try an entree or appetizer from their main menu or pay a visit to one of your favorite restaurants.

5. Last resort: Have Thanksgiving shipped to you

The online service Send a Meal will deliver a frozen Thanksgiving dinner for 4 wherever you want for $80.  The meal usually arrives between 3-10 business days after ordering, but 3-day, 2-day, and next-day shipping options are available for an extra fee.  The meal comes frozen in an insulated package filled with dry ice to ensure freshness and quality.
