Securing wins in almost every category, Milligan’s cycling team hosted its first home race of the year, the Milligan Cycling Classic, March 29-30. 

The event began with a time trial race on Saturday, March 29, which started on Blowers Boulevard. Both Milligan’s men’s and women’s teams won the team time trials. The men finished in 20:28, defeating Lees-McRae, while the women crossed the finish line in 24:44, placing ahead of SCAD Savannah. 

The Piney Flats Road Race was also held Saturday, with start times between 11:45 a.m. and 3:17 p.m., depending on the category. Milligan athletes finished first in all men’s categories as well as the women’s A category. In the women’s B category, Megan Eakin placed second. 

Sophomore Kaya Schröder described the weekend as one that strengthened the cycling team’s spirit and support. “A home race shouldn’t be missing,” she said of the team’s schedule. 

On Sunday, March 30, the Borla Industries Criterium was held, featuring collegiate races as well as open categories for non-collegiate athletes. Start times ranged from 10 a.m. to 1:25 p.m. Events were also streamed via livestream. The team finished first in men´s A, B and C as well as women´s A.
