On Dec. 3 and 4, Milligan’s orchestra and choirs will perform their annual Christmas Concert in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium in Seeger Chapel. Both performances will begin at 7:30. Tickets are free, but must be reserved prior to the concert using www.milligan.edu/christmas.

For over 20 years, the Milligan Christmas concert has been a beloved event that marks the beginning of the Christmas season for the campus and community.

“The concert highlights the many talented students and faculty at Milligan as well as the beautifully decorated Seeger Chapel,” said Dr. Delong, associate professor of music.

The Christmas concert will feature the Concert Choir, Women’s Chorale, and Heritage as well as the Milligan Orchestra. In addition, numerous community members and alumni have been invited to join the performance.

According to Dr. DeLong, the concert includes featured performances by each ensemble, as well as combined performances of yearly favorites like “Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence.”  The audience will also be invited to join in singing several Christmas carols with the choirs and orchestra, including the candle-lit singing of “Silent Night.”

This year, Johnson City’s WJHL is set to record the Saturday evening performance and edit it for rebroadcast on Christmas Eve.

“We are excited for the opportunity to share this wonderful concert with our local community through televised broadcast on Channel 11 as well as more broadly through streaming on WJHL.com,” said Dr. DeLong.
