Lady Buffs Fall Short to Alice Lloyd

Milligan’s women’s basketball team competed in their season opener at the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse on Wednesday, Nov. 2. The Lady Buffs walked away with a 55-61  loss against Alice Lloyd 61-55.

Senior Kristy Galea and sophomore Lauren Longmire were notable players for Milligan’s offense and worked hard to keep the Buffs alive in the game. With the two working together, Milligan consistently outrebounded Alice Lloyd to regain possession of the ball, putting their opponent into a difficult situation in the first half.

Despite being down their All-American player, junior Jaycie Jenkins, Milligan was ready to come together and secure the win in the second half of the game. However, they were no match for Alice Lloyd’s Hannah Kash and Madison Thompson, who put them in the lead on the scoreboard.

Ultimately, Milligan’s offense could not answer Alice Lloyd’s offensive efforts.

Although a tough loss, head Coach Kylie Greer knows what the team needs to work on moving forward.

“No one can win games at those shooting percentages, and we have to learn from that,” she said.

The  team hopes to improve their record at the Jimmy Faulkner Classic from Nov. 4-5 in Montgomery, Alabama.

“We are excited for this opportunity to play and will help us prepare for our upcoming conference games,” she said.
