Both men’s and women’s golf teams traveled to compete in the Coastal Georgia Fall Invite on Jekyll Island, beginning September 12.

The men’s golf team worked hard, finishing overall in seventh place out of sixteen teams. Graduate student Jonathan Ligget led the way for this victory, alongside his teammates Senior Samuel Prater, sophomore Gustaf Lundeberg, and junior Jakob Modig. The men’s team shot even par in rounds 2 and 9, and under par in round 3.

“It was amazing,” Coach Wallingford said.

The women’s team was able to match the men’s energy and placed fourth overall in the tournament against 14 teams. Graduate student Alayna Perryman finished the competition with 146 strokes and placed third individually in the tournament. Perryman’s finish helped sophomores Kate and Sarah Castle place in the top twenty, which contributed to Milligan moving up in the ranks.

After coming off this achievement, the women’s team played in the Kahite TWU Invitational and won the Links with 297 strokes in round two.

“They played exceptionally well,” Wallingford added. “We’re looking forward to our home tournament.”

As Milligan’s golf season is just getting started, they are looking forward to their next matchup on September 26 at East Tennessee Collegiate at the Johnson City Country Club.
