Both men’s and women’s basketball played at The University of Alabama at Huntsville on Monday night in an exhibition match, meaning they will not impact the teams’ conference records. The women lost 66-95 and the men lost 46-97.

Freshman Lauren Longmire scored 23 total points for the women’s team, and Senior Halie Padgett scored 12 total points. Sophomore Jacyie Jenkins was not present for the game, leaving the Lady Buffs without their leading scorer of the season. The Lady Buffs only led the game at the start with 2-0.

Junior Jackson Gabriel scored 12 total points for the men’s team with four three-pointers. Junior Sami Sanad totalled eight points for the game and Sophomore Julian Wilson scored two baskets for the Buffs.

Men’s Head Coach Bill Robinson discussed the strategy for the game.

“The main strategy last night was to take care of the ball and control tempo. With starting point guard Finn McClure out with a knee injury, that strategy became much harder,” said Robinson. “The best thing we did last night was fight to the end. It was a long weekend that started with practice and a long bus drive to Mercer University on Friday. We persevered despite being down most of the night.”

Sophomore Julian Wilson shared his thoughts about the men’s team.

“Being on the Milligan basketball team has changed my life and I thank God everyday for it,” said Wilson. “Coach Robinson cares for each of us so much and pushes us on and off the floor each day. I love this program and know I can trust any of these guys with anything.”

The next conference game will be Wednesday night at Columbia International University.
