The Milligan Men’s Basketball team was defeated by Midway University in an away match on Friday. The Buffs lost in three straight sets (25-17, 25-12, 25-10), making their record 1-5 this season. 

The Buffs struggled offensively. 13 of the Buff’s 17 first set points were a result of attack or service errors by Midway. Cooper Mills and Blake Ellis lead the team in kills with three each. Garrett Sherer chipped in two kills, and led the way defensively with 3 digs. 

In the first game, Millign scored 6 of the first 8 points, giving them an initial lead of 6-2. However, Midway would battle back to tie the Buffs at 7-7, and then go on a 3-0 run. This gave Midway the lead, which they held onto to win the set with a score of 25-17. 

Midway jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the second set. Milligan would only score ten more points, resulting in a 25-12 Midway victory. 

Milligan’s offensive struggles continued into the third set. The Buffs only scored ten points, six of those points coming from errors on Midway’s end. Milligan was defeated at the end of the third game with a score of 25-10.
The Milligan Men’s Volleyball team will be back in action at home on Mar. 13 against Liberty University. Schedule changes, scores, and team statistics can be found on Milligan’s athletic website.
