There were multiple ways to engage with student life this week, including two new events hosted by the Campus Activities Board (CAB). The first event, occurring Monday, produced promising results. Grocery Bingo was held at Sword Commons Lawn at 7pm, bringing an impressive, socially-distanced crowd.
“There were 35 people and we had a good number of prizes available for everyone playing,”
reports senior CAB member, Logan Mink. “CAB really thought that Bingo was a success.”
Those who participated in Grocery Bingo also viewed the event as successful.
“Everyone was in a great mood the whole event,” says Valentina Kenjeres, another Milligan senior. “If they did it again I would definitely go because the prizes were things I could actually use.”
Notable prizes included a case of vitamin water, an 18-pack of Kraft mac and cheese and smaller items such as toilet paper and toothpaste.
Mink added that CAB plans to heed the excitement of the participants and plan a second Grocery Bingo night.
“Though we haven’t set a date for the next round we look forward to potentially starting a new tradition at Milligan.”
Tuesday brought the second CAB event of the week, a movie night also located at the Sword Commons Lawn. The film 42, starring the recently deceased Chadwick Boseman, was shown to honor the life and legacy of this respected actor.
While attendance for this event did not turn out the way CAB hoped, Mink is hopeful about future events, saying, “We hope more people will join us next time!”
Despite COVID-19 regulations hindering many large gatherings, CAB continues to find creative ways to bring students together to build community.
