SR Education Group, an online organization designed to help students find schools best suited for them, recently published their “2020 Best Online Colleges,” and Milligan placed tenth. 1,941 online colleges were researched nationwide.
The SR Education Group is headquartered in Kirkland, WA and was founded in 2004 by CEO Sung Rhee. The company’s purpose is to create online resources for students seeking an online education program. SR releases information online for the general public that is free and accessible. For more information visit https://www.sreducationgroup.org/.
Milligan offers a bachelor’s degree in nursing (RN to BSN), a bachelor’s in information sciences, a master’s in business administration (with multiple concentrations) and a doctoral degree in ministry all online. Courses are completed through the Canvas online learning platform.
The rankings, posted on GuidetoOnlineSchools.com, highlight online colleges that provide the best return on investment using alumni salary data from PayScale and tuition rates from official school websites. The 2020 rankings include 694 unique schools among the 56 different ranking lists.
Oliver Li is an employee at SR who works on the ranking lists of colleges each year. “Milligan’s great return on investment earned them a spot on the ranking list, with a low tuition rate and high mid-median career salary,” Li said. “Additionally, Milligan offers over 10 online programs for students to choose from.”
Median mid-career salary data, tuition rates, degree offerings and student-to-faculty ratios factor into the rankings of schools. Milligan’s annual tuition rate is $9,425, and the median salary is $67,000.
Among the colleges that were ahead of Milligan include Christian Brothers University ranked first, University of Tennessee Knoxville ranked second and Tennessee Tech ranked third. Schools have to reach a certain criteria in order to be considered for SR’s rankings. “Schools need to be regionally accredited and offer at least one fully online degree at the bachelor’s level,” Li said. “The rankings were based on an internal formula that takes into account mid-career median salary data from PayScale and manually researched tuition rates, in order to recognize schools with a positive return on investment.”
