The 42nd annual Unicoi County Apple Festival took place on Oct. 4 and 5. The festival hosts many vendors, musicians and contests.

Apples were available aplenty and other products available for sale included:

  • Vermont maple syrup
  • Candied apples
  • Fall and winter themed decorations
  • Handmade pottery
  • Homemade soap
  • Jewelry
  • Blown glass

The event was heavily attended with more than 110,000 people filling the streets over the course of the three days.

The Unicoi County Chamber of Commerce organizes the event, and Commerce Executive Director Amanda Delp told the Johnson City Press in an interview that the new layout this year promoted more vendors.

Music at the event included headliners on the main stage in the evenings and a rotation of Gospel Music on the secondary stage on Love Street and Church Street.

The event was family friendly with attractions including inflatables, a rock wall and bungee jumping.

The weekend also included an apple recipe competition with sweet and savory categories. Other festivities were an apple festival 4-mile road race and 3K race walk Saturday morning and the Miss Apple Festival Pageant Saturday evening.

The event will return for it’s 43rd year in 2020 according to the chamber of commerce.
