A beloved band that was a part of many of our middle school years is back on the charts. Three Days Grace is back three years after their last album to bring the population a brand-new album, titled “Outsider,” released on March 9.

After the tour of their 2015 release “Human” ended, the Canadian rock group decided to take a year away from the hustle and bustle of life to work on their next project. During an interview with Billboard, drummer Neil Sanderson explained that they wanted to work “in as much isolation as possible…to get a break and find the space to create.”

This has definitely proven to have been a good call, as “Outsider” reached No. 9 on Billboard’s Top Canadian Album chart and No. 24 on Billboard’s Top 200 in the U.S. after only a week. Their single “The Mountain” has also climbed to their sixth most listened-to song on Spotify. This 12-track album contains almost 40 minutes of pure, unadulterated, post-grunge metal. Tracks like “Right Left Wrong,” “I Am an Outsider” and “Infra-Red” will leave you head-banging, while others, like “Nothing To Lose But You,” will slow things down while still keeping up the energy of the album.

Sanderson commented on the overall theme of the album to Billboard, saying that “there’s a common thread that talks about how to navigate your way through modern life and being bombarded by information and feelings and beliefs. We don’t have all the answers here, but we definitely do bring up the topic a lot.”

“Outsider” is available at retail for $9.99 and also available for download on Google Play and Spotify. Whether you are a diehard Three Days Grace fan like I am, or if you are just a casual metal listener, this is definitely an album to take a listen to.
