It’s been about a month since the first games of the season for the women’s and men’s basketball teams here at Milligan.

Already, there have been triumphant victories and struggling defeats. But through it all, both teams have carried their heads on their shoulders and pushed through to attain the rankings they currently have in the Appalachian Athletic Conference rankings.

Last Wednesday, Nov. 30, Milligan’s men’s and women’s basketball teams hosted one of their AAC rivals, Reinhardt University.

The men’s team started strong as they led with a score of 7-1, opening the game. Unfortunately, Reinhardt overpowered them and quickly picked up the lead and passed them with a 13-0 run. The game concluded in an AAC win for Reinhardt with a score of 89-66.

Some highlights from the game were junior David Casaday’s constant three pointers and sophomore Will Buckner’s and freshman Daxton Bostian’s great offensive plays.

Currently outshining the men’s team, Milligan’s women’s basketball team is presently the only undefeated team in all of the AAC Conference. If they keep this up they will head back to the NAIA National Championship this year.

Most recently, the Lady Buffs beat Reinhardt with a 10-point lead (76-66) in a Appalachian Athletic Conference win. This game showcased the talents of sophomore Sarah Robinson and senior Hayley Wyrick. Both Buffs led their team by scoring 14 points apiece throughout the game.

Other standouts were senior Lindsee Price, sophomore Mackenzie Raizor, and junior Morgan Gose. All three of these Buffs scored 13 points during the game.

The men’s and women’s teams will be continuing conference play Saturday, Dec. 3, at Montreat College.
