Although the Buffaloes did not go down without a fight, they were eventually defeated by a tough Reinhardt team. The Reinhardt University Eagles are one of the top teams in the conference and showcased their talent in Wednesday’s match against the Buffs, improving their record to 8-2 in conference play.
The bright spots in Wednesday’s match for the Buffs were found in the singles play of Jackson Lenoir and Abigail Allen. Lenoir defeated his opponent with match scores of 6-2, 6-4 and Allen also proved to be dominant in her match defeating her opponent in straight set scores of 6-3, 6-3.
Rachel Hoddas and Sarah Rainwater also continued their doubles dominance winning 8-6 over the Eagles’ Alyssa Kroll and Paula Puentes.
On the Women’s side, Caroline Morelli and Martha Wells both participated in hard fought matchups against their respective opponents. Both players battled back and persevered through a number of hardships but were unable to come out on top.
For the men, Fernando Gonzalez and Matias Yanez were also defeated in their respective singles matchups. Although they both came out swinging and won their first match against their opponents, Gonzalez eventually lost in a close tiebreaker with a score of 10-8 and Yanez lost the deciding match 6-3.
Wednesday’s loss to the Eagles snapped the Buffaloes’ 9-match winning streak over the past few years.
